In terms or architectural beauty and historic richness, Rouen is definitely among the worlds top. With its medieval half-timbered buildings, narrow cobblestone streets still similar to the ones the actual Jeanne D'Arc walked through 600 years ago, Roman ruins, the impressive modern Church of Saint Joan of Arc, and gorgeous old gothic churches, it is a must-see destination for anyone fond of France. Close to nature, with green hillsides clearly visible from the Rouen riverbank, and a great place for shopping, Rouen is suitable for a daytrip from Paris or a long weekend. One of not too many destinations I wouldn't mind going back to.
